Saniya Mirwani is a filmmaker and writer based between New York, Toronto and Mumbai. She is the Founder and Executive Producer of Sherni Studios, a media collective that is on a mission to amplify underrepresented female voices through content and social activism in India. She also worked as a Creative Producer at honto88, where she has produced content for brands like Netflix, Hulu, Women’s Philanthropy Institute, Commit2Change, and Conscious Kid.
Most recently, she wrote and directed Any Given Night, a short dark comedy about women’s safety on college campuses, that is currently in the festival circuit.
Saniya’s key goal for Any Given Night is to create awareness and share solutions for safety with young men and women survivors in colleges today. She is currently is partnering with non profit/college organisations focused on sexual assault and harassment on campuses to build an education curriculum alongside the short film.
Saniya also has a background in News Production. She’s worked as a Entertainment Writer at Bloomberg Quint in Mumbai and as Video Producer at The Juggernaut in New York. Saniya also hosted several videos for The Juggernaut’s social media reviewing Film and TV with South Asian representation. Her review on ‘Sex and the City’s’ revival ‘And Just Like That : Diwali episode’ is one of the most popular videos on their Instagram.
